Lagerfeld

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Lately my styles seems to consist of clean-cut, solid, black, white and gray pieces (my all time favorite non-colors.) I enjoy wearing various types of black leggings (i.e. snakeskin, disco stripes, cotton etc.)  blazers, gray t-shirts, white tanks and gigantic scarves. I was browsing nymag.com and Karl Lagerfeld's 2009 spring line caught my eye. I have always immensely enjoyed the "business wear" look because why else would I eventually need to get a "real" job right? Anyways, I applaud the cropped black pants, pencil skirts, fitted black belts and symmetrical blazers.

Whenever I am feeling crazy and want to incorporate a little pattern into my attire, I always tend to add some type of floral component. Whether it be a skirt or blouse, florals add a much needed "girlyness" to an otherwise very masculine look. I dig the floral blouse and black pencil skirt above.... Hope everyone had a great holiday!

I love snow.

I had the pleasure of cramming into the car with my parents, sister and our 3 dogs and driving to Sedona yesterday. We were all determined to go see snow and we did! A lot of it. There is nothing more beautiful than falling, white snow and in Sedona, it is unbelievable. Of course we are not used to the cold so we ran around, took pictures and built a make-shift snowman and then ran back to the car and turned on the heater!

I am.....

  • Trying SO hard not to spend money on myself and buy things for others.
  • Figuring out what "ugly" sweater I should wear tonight for my SECOND ugly sweater party in 3 days. Whoever thought this was a clever idea is imprudent.
  • Attempting to gain self-confidence for interviews.
  • Loving how dark and cold it is outside and appreciating the excuse to layer.

Mrs. Obama: A muse.

Photobucket

Kai Milla, fashion designer, most notably for stars like Oprah, Petra Nemcova etc.. has announced her inaugural 2009 collection with no other than Mrs. Obama in mind. Michelle Obama is officially someones muse, call in the presses! Milla said,“the designs are elegant yet provocative, demure yet flirty, and perpetually flattering." Well that about sums up Michelle's classic glamour for me. She is tall (5'11 I have heard,) thin and beautiful so what designer wouldn't want their clothes all over her? Not to mention that just about everyone in the world will see what Michelle wears come January 20th. So if you want some advertising, there ya go.

I want to sparkle.

If the world was perfect, this would be my New Year's outfit

But it's okay. I will be perfectly happy rocking this fantastic, sequined Dolce Vita dress. I LOVE the caramel color. OR, I may be wearing sweats and my snowboarding jacket.. My boyfriend and I have been bailing on New Year's the past couple years and heading up to Flagstaff to ring in the new year. I prefer to keep it quiet and low key I suppose.

But I do love getting dressed up.....

Floral

Here is my floral Michael Kors jacket that I talked about previously. I was experimenting with photoshop and don't know what I did but it kind of looks cool? A little Andy Warhol perhaps?? Not even close but ok. I have been wanting to shop so much lately but need to save $$ for x-mas so when I get the urge, I go to the Goodwill and find cool pieces there instead. Last week I discovered this royal purple, floor length dress that is absolutely stunning. It weighs nearly 5 pounds there is so much fabric. I will get pictures of it up soon..

leggings

I am in love with the fur vest below along with those amazing, silver Jimmy Choos. This look is very envy worthy.
Also, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about the whole shiny, leather leggings and consensus is, I love them. They are very sleak and edgy but can be worn casually or dressed up for a night out. I saw a pair for MK and Ashley's, The Row and I decided they are best paired with just a simple white tank or black blazer, maybe while listening to Purple Rain?

Paris

I am just sitting here, attempting to do my homework, and now longing to be back in Paris again. Surprise Surprise. I had the pleasure to go on two different occasions this summer and it was as wonderful (both times) as I had imagined.
The night of my 21 Birthday I will never forget....

I found that dress (me on the right) at this little boutique in Notting Hill at the Portobello Road Market. Possibly the best market in all of London, which is hard to compete because there are so freaking many. It is oozing with antiques, vintage clothes, fresh fruit, cheese, olives, bread, jewelery.. Ah the best place on earth. My friends and I would go shopping, buy a bunch of cheese and olives and find a little park and have picnics in the grass. In this picture we are at our shabby hotel in Paris hanging out roof top.

Jumpsuits

I am really digging the whole jumpsuit look. They add a touch of sleak winter style to my wardrobe, which usually consists of multiple pieces. I mean jumpsuits are convenient because you only have to put one item on. Too easy right? Throw on a belt to break it up a little like the Proenza Schouler or Ralph Lauren below. Photos courtesy of my favorite site to browse, nymag.com. I applied for a spring internship with them but sadly after 3 e-mails have heard no reply. :(

RONSON

I just realized that good ol' Urban Outfitters is now carrying Charlotte Ronson's line. Maybe they have for awhile, I don't know but I just noticed. I really like her clothes for the plain, basic pieces but also killer coats and party dresses. Charlotte Ronson is the sister to Lindsay Lohan's girlfriend Samantha and also the sister to Mark Ronson, the DJ/producer who apparently just broke up with my style favorite, Daisy Lowe. What a shame. I really need to get over my fascination of people from London. Here are a couple Charlotte Ronson pieces available at Urban that I like.

Miranda

Currently I am obsessed with Australian Victoria Secret model/ Orlando Bloom's main squeeze,  Miranda Kerr. Of course she is beautiful but she has somewhat of an Aggy Deyn intenseness to her eyes that I totally dig. I tend to appreciate the models out there that have a unique look to them and Miranda definitely falls into that category.

Of course while I was in London all summer I grew a huge appreciation for Aggy and her consistent originality.

Hair

Here is a picture of me with my new hair cut. It is starting to grow on me a little more. Wait, is that where that phrase comes from? People getting hair cuts they are not sure about and them "growing on them." I'm kidding that was ridiculous. Photobucket

In other news, this weekend was fantastic. I had such a good time hanging out with old friends. Yesterday Bryan and I went to lunch at this new spot True Food at the Biltmore (delicious by the way) with organic, healthy options for us vegetarians. I was sitting there enjoying my TLT (tempeh, lettuce and tomato) and reading the little pamphlet about the nutritionist that apparantly wrote the menu. As I was gazing at the Santa Claus look-alike picture I realized he was sitting right next to me! He was enjoying the same mock bacon sandwich as me. Some lady even asked for his autograph, too funny.
Afterwards I dragged my poor boyriend to go shopping and found this floral, cropped Michael Kors blazer, which has a great story to go along with the purchase. I saw it was on sale for $59.99 and was debating whether I needed it or not and Bry was giving me a hard time because of course I don't NEED it. As I was standing there, staring and pondering away the awesome sales lady came and put a new sign that said $29.99. If that wasn't meant to be I just don't know what is. Well there is my weekend shopping adventure story...

Totally a holiday card right?
