Alexa, Michelle, Emma and Erin.

My favorite girls.

The week has been alright so far. Although I'm starting to feel like a Mom. I work 9-5, pick the little chick up from school, cook mac & cheese and fish sticks, do 3rd grade homework, play Justin Bieber board games. Oh, did I mention I'm babysitting? Today I was told I talk too much, but my green beans are the best she's ever had. Can't win them all I guess.

"Bad boys have never been my thing, but damaged outsiders are a definite weakness."

Elle Fanning: Rodarte's Muse on Nowness.com.

Check out this kid. She's like this gorgeous little summer peach, and apparently Rodarte's latest muse. In this film you'll see Todd Cole's new collaboration with Rodarte called The Curve of Forgotten Things. Fanning models design duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy's spring 2011 collection. To me, watching this reminded me of watching Miss Elle Fanning's latest film, Somewhere. Not a whole lot happens and a lot of silence ensues, yet it is in my opinion, artistically brilliant.

Speaking of muses. I wonder what it would be like to be a "muse." I can't imagine the job entails a whole lot, other than just being yourself and living your life, which I am fairly confident I'm capable of doing. When I think of muses the following come to mind:

  • Yoko Ono, muse to John Lennon
  • Zelda Fitzgerald, Author, Muse to Scott Fitzgerald
  • Sara Lowndes, Bob Dylan's most influential muse
  • Edie Sedgwick, muse to Bob Dylan and Andy Warhol
  • Loulou de la Falaise, Designer, Muse to Yves Saint Laurent
  • Dora Maar, Writer, Muse to Picasso

Most of these ladies went on to do amazing things independently, but I don't think they would have been nearly as successful had they not been the inspiration for the likes of Fitzgerald and Dylan.

This also made me wonder why you don't hear of a man being a woman's muse, but then I remembered the word muse derives from Greek mythology and pertains to the 9 sister goddesses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, each of whom was regarded as protectress of a different art or science. (Little history lesson for ya)

By the way, you should totally check out this site. I'm hooked.

I struggled hard going to work this morning due to the fact that I had such a great weekend and I didn't want it to end. I went dancing at this Indian hookah club, lost my phone while doing the previous activity, got an iPhone, became obsessed with my iPhone, cooked with my Aunt, hung out with this cool interesting guy, went to the gym, drank pale ales with my girlfriends, practiced cart wheels in their temporarily empty apartment, attended a Super Bowl party, played quarters instead of watching the Super Bowl and that's pretty much it. It was more fun than it probably sounds...

So, yeah... I hope this week goes by quickly so I can repeat all the above minus the losing the phone part.

I like this song.

you better get your move on

Free People by Jason Lee Parry

Rumor has it Mr. Groundhog didn't see his shadow today, which means we only have 6 more weeks of winter left. I would be excited about this fact, however it blows my mind that Americans still maintain this silly tradition. Of course the Groundhog didn't see his shadow! It's snowing everywhere and last time I checked the sun has to be out in order to generate shadows. This is all Bill Murray's fault. Man, if I had a nickel for every time I said that.

I've watched the above Free People video like 8 times. It's getting me excited for summer at the beach. I plan to go every weekend whether it's to Long Beach or Cape May. (If you're reading this Blair, I hope you know I'm tagging along with you, right?) I find it funny that when I first moved to New York I had no idea there were beaches nearby...

This has been my song of the day. I'm not sure why other than the fact that the video came on while I was on the elliptical at the gym.

CCS- Move
If someone drops you on the floor and you don't know who did it
just flick your hair and try to kick as many people as you can hit
you do what you gotta do so please listen to me
don't let no one play you a fool like you're a stinky (...)

you better get your move on or all of that good ones will have gone
you better get your move on or all of that good ones will have gone
you better get your move on
