amnesty

I've been shopping at thrift stores since about middle school. I would relish in the moment while at Savers whenever I would come across an elaborately printed vintage dress, a wonderfully worn in linen blazer, or a silk blouse. Somehow, after I took my new treasure home the first thing I would do as part of my 'customizing' routine is rip out the shoulder pads. Gasp. What was I thinking?? At the time I never imagined that something as wonderful as the Balmain military coat below or even the stunningly chic white tee with strong shoulders would look so utterly magnificent.

My new D.I.Y project is bringing back all those pitiful shoulder pads I once tossed to the curb and sew them into a plain white tee. Hopefully they'll forgive me for what I did in the past.

Beauty Post 1

I've never done a beauty post before because frankly I've never cared too much about makeup or skin care products. I tend to use the same eyeshadow purchased from Walgreens and finish off with the classic pink and green Great Lash mascara. I don't like wearing much face makeup and cringe at the thought of a liquid makeup on my face. So I've narrowed down my favorite beauty products without much difficulty because these are all I really like, or use.

For being around $6 you can't go wrong with Great Lash Mascara really. I have pretty long eyelashes as is and with a couple coats of this they look super full and don't chunk lashes together. I dig the blue color when I'm feeling a little wild.

I really like to go without eye makeup and then apply a really bold-colored lipstick. Most the time I'm lazy and don't feel like doing makeup at all so a little bright lipstick instantly preps you for a night out, or a day at the grocery store. Gwen isn't the only one you can pull off red lips 24/7. Above is the limited-edition Dame Edna lipstick from Mac. It has a hint of sparkle to it, which I don't normally prefer but the bottle is pretty.

I love love love the idea of bright yellow nails for summer! It's refreshing and eye-catching and still totally chic. Rihanna rocks the color, but I have to say, the smiley faces were a bit much.

Even though I use bare Minerals as my face makeup, I don't use the three steps like you're supposed to. I love the above Stila Sun bronzer. It's subtle and doesn't make you look like you've gone on tanning overload. I like to put a tiny bit on the top of my cheek bones for a hint of color. It's a good replacement for having to use blush.

Last but not least, bare Minerals. I love this makeup so much. It took me a long time to find a makeup that doesn't gross me out putting all over my face because like I said before, it just makes my face feel dirty. Bare Minerals is light but supplies ultimate coverage at the same time. I'm sure if I used it correctly I would even have better things to say about it. It gets hot in Phoenix and I can't stand for my makeup to run off and this definitely doesn't.

stella ella ella ay ay ay

Kate, Stella, Liv, and Kate all wearing Stella McCartney. It's funny because I think that Stella's jumpsuit was the most incredible. She looks way better than the other three, but I guess if I were a famous designer, I'd totally wear the most amazing piece from my collection. Why let someone else get that privilege when you designed it? I did enjoy the back to Kate Bosworths gown too and the red lipstick rocks.

Fire Engine

photos by eliastahan

Today is my last day in school---forever. Unless I'm walking down the street tomorrow and trip over a huge pile of money labeled "Abby's graduate school fund," this is it. Of course I'm fighting a bad cold, but that's me; the queen of getting sick when important things are happening.

Yesterday I finally got mac microsoft word on my laptop, which will be convenient for me considering I'm a writer! I also was contacted to write a couple short stories for Phoenix Magazine's August issue! I'm stoked about that. I also picked up my commencement tickets to see Barack Obama speak at my graduation and I couldn't be more excited. So overall, I had a pretty decent day, even though I felt awful.

For now, I am going to finish reading my daily blogs and watch Gossip Girl on DVR. I missed it last night because I opted to take Nyquil and read Twilight's third book, Eclipse until I passed out. Yes, the book was in bed with me when I woke this morning, but hey, I'm always up for a challenge. Enjoy the day!

I want to know what love is

Love is in the air-- at least it is for celebrities. I'll admit it, I spend almost as much time checking out cute famous couples as I do fashion online. It took awhile for me to determine their rankings, but I've come up with my top five favorite couples of the moment. Not of all time of course because then Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler would most definitely be included.

What makes a perfect couple really? Why do the following five couples stick together? From an outsider's perspective I can say that they look pretty damn good standing next to each other so that has to count for something, right?

1. Gavin and Gwen
2. Mary-Kate and Nate
3. Rachel and Hayden
4. Blake and Penn
5. Miranda and Orlando
